About KingsTruck Stop & Casino

Kings has stood on US Hwy 190 in Port Barre since 1957, back when it went by 7 Flags. Three generations later, it is still a family-run kitchen, fuel stop, and casino that never closes.

This is the short version of a long story. The Guillory family has fed travelers and neighbors here for the better part of seventy years, and the doors have not closed since. Read on for how 7 Flags became Kings, and what has stayed the same the whole way through.

Our Story

From 7 Flags to Kings

For nearly 70 years, Kings Truck Stop & Casino has been more than just a place to fuel up. It is a landmark piece of Louisiana's highway heritage. Located on US Highway 190, we have spent generations welcoming long-haul truckers, daily commuters, and local families through our doors. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Kings is where true Cajun hospitality meets the open road.

Long before the neon lights of the casino, this stop was known to highway travelers and locals simply as 7 Flags. Founded by Talton 'Tiny' Turner in 1957 along the booming transportation artery of US Highway 190, 7 Flags became a classic and trusted roadside oasis for drivers traversing the state. In those early years it was a place to top off the tank, stretch your legs, and get back on the road with a full stomach.

The current plaza was envisioned and established by our founder, Tonas 'Bill' Guillory, a successful local farmer and lifelong Port Barre native who recognized the potential of Highway 190 as a booming transportation artery. He saw a community of hard-working truck drivers, travelers, and neighbors who deserved a welcoming place to rest, recharge, and enjoy a hot, home-cooked meal. Bill formed T.B. Guillory, Inc., a close-knit, family-run corporation that transformed a simple roadside fuel station into a premier highway hub.

As the business grew, and to give drivers a well-earned break, Bill expanded the venue to include a licensed video poker casino, giving guests an energetic place to relax and test their luck. The combination caught on. Fuel for the truck, a real meal for the driver, and a little fun before the next leg of the trip, all under one roof and always open.

Through every change, the kitchen stayed at the heart of it. Kings cooks the Cajun plates this part of Louisiana is known for, from seafood gumbo and crawfish étouffée to smothered pork chops and half-pound burgers, with breakfast served around the clock for anyone who pulls in hungry at 2am. Sides are made fresh in the kitchen, and the regulars have their usual order down to the last side.

Throughout the years, the family legacy grew to include Bill's children and their spouses, each helping to steer and support the enterprise while keeping its community-focused, family-first values fully intact. Decisions are still made the way Bill made them, with the driver and the neighbor in mind.

Carrying the family banner proudly into the modern era, the Guillorys continue to practice forward-thinking leadership in order to best serve our drivers and our community. Kings bridges decades of local heritage with the highway amenities travelers count on today, making sure the dream Bill Guillory set in motion keeps thriving for generations to come.

Whether you have driven this stretch of US 190 a thousand times or you are passing through Port Barre for the first time, there is a hot plate and a warm welcome waiting. Pull in anytime. We are always open.
